GAME DAY: Hurricanes Visit Oil Kings in Thanksgiving Matinee
Edmonton, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue their three-game in four night long weekend as they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings today at 12:00pm at Rogers Place.
The Hurricanes (4-2-0-0) enter after suffering a 3-1 loss on Saturday in Red Deer against the Rebels. Brayden Edwards scored the lone goal in the defeat while Harrison Meneghin made 26-saves. Lethbridge outshot Red Deer 34-29 in the contest as the ‘Canes reached the 30-shot mark for the sixth time to start the new season. The Hurricanes enter today with a 2-2-0-0 record away from home so far this season.
The Oil Kings (3-3-0-1) enter on a two-game losing streak after falling 4-1 on Saturday to the Prince Albert Raiders at Rogers Place. Adam Jecho scored the lone goal while Kolby Hay made 17-saves in the setback. The Oil Kings outshot the Raiders 36-21 in the game. Edmonton enters with a 1-2-0-1 record at home so far this season.
Today will be the final visit for the Hurricanes to Rogers Place this year having posted a 1-1-0-0 record in two games in Edmonton last weekend. The ‘Canes have gone 5-1-0-0 in their last six games at Rogers Place dating back to the 2021-2022 season. VS. OIL KINGS: Today will be the third of six meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings. Lethbridge is 1-1-0-0 so far this season against Edmonton while having posted a 4-1-0-1 record in 2022-2023 against their Central Division rivals; the ‘Canes were 3-0-0-0 at Rogers Place last season. Thru 6: The Hurricanes enter tonight with a 4-2-0-0 record (8 points) on the season after six games. The ‘Canes are 2-0-0-0 at home and 2-2-0-0 on the road so far this season. In 2022-2023, the Hurricanes had posted a 3-3-0-0 record after six games.
Road Heavy: The Hurricanes are in a stretch where they will play six games in nine nights with four of those six games away from home. Of their first 10 regular season games, the ‘Canes schedule includes seven road contests. Lethbridge is 2-2-0-0 so far this season on the road.
Balanced Attack: After six games on the season, the Hurricanes have scored a total of 21 goals for an average of 3.50 goals per game. Last year, Lethbridge averaged 2.96 goals per game. A total of 12 players have recorded three-or-more points so far while all but one skater has at least a point.

Canada Coach: Hurricanes Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager Matt Anholt was named as an Assistant Coach for Hockey Canada for the upcoming World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Anholt will serve on the coaching staff for Canada Red in Prince Edward Island from November 2-11. It is the second straight season the ‘Canes have had a coach for the U17’s after Ryan Aasman was a Video Coach last year.
Perfect September: The Hurricanes started the season winning all three games in the month of September to start the year with three straight victories. It was the first time since 2008-2009 that the ‘Canes started a season with a perfect 3-0-0-0 record. Lethbridge has posted a 1-2-0-0 record so far in October.
Great Start: After returning from the Minnesota Wild’s Training Camp, goaltender Harrison Meneghin has been tremendous for the Hurricanes. The South Surrey, BC, product has posted a 4-1-0-0 record in five starts posting a 1.78 goals against average and a .943 saves percentage with one shutout.
Gone Pro: On August 10th, the Hurricanes announced that Brent Kisio resigned as head coach after eight years at the helm to accept an assistant coaching job with the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League. Kisio left the ‘Canes as the winningest coach in team history posting a 267-176-44 regular season record while qualifying for the playoffs each season.
New Bench Boss: The Hurricanes announced Bill Peters the 15th head coach in team history on August 30th. Peters, who has served as head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames, returns to the WHL for the first time since 2008. He helped guide the Spokane Chiefs to a WHL and Memorial Cup Championship in 2008 before going to professional hockey. He has posted a 116-93-13 record in the WHL.
