GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to Sweep Season Series Against Warriors
Swift Current, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue a five-game road trip tonight at 6:00pm MT as they visit the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
The Hurricanes (22-14-1-1) enter on a three-game winning streak after earning a 2-1 overtime win on Friday against the Swift Current Broncos at the InnovationPlex. Vojtech Port scored in regulation before Kooper Gizowski potted the overtime winner; Jackson Unger made 28-saves in the victory. Lethbridge improved to 3-1-0-0 in their last four road games as they enter tonight with a 7-11-0-1 record on the road this season.
The Warriors (10-24-4-2) enter on a five-game losing streak having gone 0-3-1-1 in that span after a 5-4 overtime loss to the Regina Pats on Friday night. Landen McFadden, Aiden Ziprick, Pavel McKenzie and Ethan Semeniuk scored in the loss while Matthew Hutchison made 26-saves. Moose Jaw enters with a 5-10-1-2 record on home ice this season.
Tonight will be the final of five meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Warriors. Lethbridge has posted a 4-0-0-0 record against Moose Jaw this season having posted a 2-0-0-0 record on the road. Thru 38: The Hurricanes enter tonight with a 22-14-1-1 record (46 points) on the season after 38 games. The ‘Canes are 15-3-1-0 at home and 7-11-0-1 on the road so far this season. Road Trippin’: The ‘Canes opened a five-game road trip on Friday in Swift Current against the Broncos. Lethbridge will play two games in Saskatchewan before heading south for a three-game US Division road trip to face Tri-City, Wenatchee and Spokane. In total, the Hurricanes will travel roughly 2,300 kilometres.
Penalty Killed: The Hurricanes penalty kill has been terrific of late. Price is Right: On January 6th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2005-born defenceman Caden Price from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for 2007-born defenceman Will Sharpe, the rights to 2007-born goaltender Harrison Boettiger and five draft picks, including a first-round pick in 2026. The Seattle Kraken third-round pick represented Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship in Ottawa. He made his ‘Canes debut on January 10th in a 2-1 overtime win in Swift Current.
Bronze Finish: Vojtech Port earned a Bronze medal with Czechia at the 2025 World Junior Championship with a 3-2 shootout victory over Sweden. The Jihlava, Czechia product collected four assists in seven games while at the tournament along with a plus-6 rating. It was the second straight year he was named to the Czechia roster, but the first in which he was able to compete after being injured in 2024.
Gus What: On December 27th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2004-born forward Jordan Gustafson from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for overage forward Hayden Pakkala, two third-round draft picks and a fifth-round pick. Gustafson, who won a WHL Championship with the T-Birds in 2023, is a signed NHL prospect of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Unger Stellar: Jackson Unger has been outstanding since joining the Hurricanes. In his 10 decisions, the Calgary, AB, product has posted a 9-1-0-0 record with a 2.15 GAA and a .922 SV% while going a perfect
7-0-0-0 on home ice. Unger was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 15th. He has an 13-12-3-1 record on the season with a 3.59 GAA and a .897 SV%.
