GAME DAY: Hurricanes Continue 3-in-3 in Red Deer
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue a three-in-three weekend tonight at 7:00pm as they visit the Red Deer Rebels at the Peavey Mart Centrium.
The Hurricanes (31-28-5-0) enter after ending a two-game home losing streak on Friday with a 5-2 win over the Rebels at the ENMAX Centre. Leo Braillard, Landen Ward, Miguel Marques, Brayden Edwards and Dylan Sydor scored in the win while Harrison Meneghin made 25-saves. Lethbridge improved to 7-3-0-0 in their last ten games with the victory. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 13-18-0-0 record on the road having won their last four road games. Lethbridge sits sixth in the Eastern Conference while sitting just two points away from clinching a playoff berth.
The Rebels (33-23-2-6) had their three-game winning streak end with the 5-2 loss in Lethbridge to the Hurricanes. Kai Uchacz and Talon Brigley scored in the defeat while Chase Wutzke made 22-saves in the setback. The loss was the first defeat under new head coach Dave Struch for the Rebels. Red Deer enters sitting fifth in the Eastern Conference and have posted a 21-11-0-0 record at home this season.
Tonight will be the final meeting of the regular season between the Hurricanes and Rebels; Lethbridge has posted a 3-2-0-0 record against Red Deer this season as the home team has won all five games in the season series. NHL Ink: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 22nd. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal. Chadwick has recorded 52 points (11g-41a) in 62 games with the Hurricanes this season. He became the first ‘Canes defenceman to record 50+ points in a season since Alex Cotton (67) and Calen Addison (52) accomplished the feat during the 2019-2020 regular season.
