Giants Launch Interactive Seat Map
The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club, in partnership with Ticketmaster Canada, are excited to announce the launch of a new Interactive Seat Map (ISM) which will now be available for all online Giants ticket purchases on VancouverGiants.com and Ticketmaster.ca
With the change, the Giants become the first Western Hockey League team to use this technology as part of their Ticketmaster partnership. They also become only the second major Vancouver sports franchise to use a Ticketmaster ISM (the Vancouver Canucks are the first).
The ISM replaces the old “best available” system in which the purchaser was simply given a choice of best available seats within a chosen price category. The new ISM however allows fans to view the entire seating bowl at one time, while a colour-coded system gives them an idea of how many/few seats are available within each section. The purchaser can then zoom into a particular section and see exactly what seats are available for sale.
This new method of online ticket purchasing gives fans 100% control over where they sit and how their seats are configured. This functionality will be especially enjoyed by those with specific seating requirements. For example, those requiring seats on an aisle, seats that are close to the concourse and/or main entrance, or seats that are close to friends and family members, can now find those seats very easily. The ISM will also be a great feature for fans with specific tastes for their viewing experience, as they can now choose among every available seat for all Giants games.
Fans will also gain access to seat configurations that previously weren’t available. For example, if the purchaser is searching for four seats, they were previously only able to choose among locations that offered four seats together in a row. Now, should availability exist where four seats are configured as back-to-back pairs, the purchaser gets to make that decision for themselves.
Kip Levin, Ticketmaster Senior Vice President, Product & Digital, says “The Interactive Seat Map will dramatically change how consumers select and purchase tickets on Ticketmaster.ca by providing unprecedented choice and transparency for all available price and seat options.”
Giants Chief Operating Officer Stuart Ballantyne adds, “Vancouver Giants fans have been asking for this sort of functionality for quite some time, so we’re very excited to have worked with our partner at Ticketmaster to offer this great solution to our fans. We believe the new ISM technology will vastly improve the Giants ticket-buying experience, and will therefore help us build upon our strong fan support that the team enjoys here in Vancouver.”
The Vancouver Giants next home game is Wednesday, February 16 versus the arch-rival Kelowna Rockets. Their regular season concludes on Sunday, March 20, with the WHL Playoffs slated to begin on March 25.
