Zimmer Announces NCAA Commitment to Niagara University
Langley, B.C. — Vancouver Giants 20-year-old forward Tyson Zimmer has announced his commitment to Niagara University.
The Russell, Man. native will join the Purple Eagles upon the conclusion of his WHL eligibility at the end of the 2024-25 season.
“I am super excited to announce that I’ve committed to the University of Niagara to play Division 1 hockey,” Zimmer said in an Instagram post. “Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!
Zimmer is the second Giant to commit to an NCAA school, after Levis committed to Bowling Green earlier this month. This comes following the changes to the eligibility rules for NCAA men’s hockey.
Zimmer is currently seventh on the Giants in scoring this season with eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points in 31 games. The right-shot forward has suited up in 244 career Western Hockey League games between the Brandon Wheat Kings, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Giants, during which he has accumulated 141 points (62G-79A).
Niagara University is located in Lewiston, near Niagara Falls, New York. The Purple Eagles compete in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) conference and plays out of the Robert and Concetta Dwyer Arena.
