Sportsnet CHL Saturday Showcase: Barrie at Ottawa
Sportsnet’s CHL Saturday Showcase comes to the nation’s capital this weekend as the host Ottawa 67’s take on the Barrie Colts at 3:30pm ET.
The 13-12-1-1 67’s look to reverse their recent fortunes before a national audience as they enter play on a four game slide on the heels of five straight away from home. They now embark on a stretch of four of their next five contests on home ice as Andre Tourigny’s club looks to right the ship and keep pace in a highly competitive East Division.
San Jose Sharks prospect Sasha Chmelevski (14-12–26) leads the Barber Poles in scoring while captain and Colorado Avalanche prospect Travis Barron (6-17–23) trails close behind with 23 points.
The Central Division-leading Barrie Colts suit up in their second CHL Saturday Showcase matchup of the season, entering play with a 15-7-2-1 record.
Top 2018 NHL Draft prospect Andrei Svechnikov could return next weekend, but in his absence the Colts have relied on contributions from Lucas Chiodo (10-17–27), Jason Willms (13-13–26), Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Alexey Lipanov (9-13–22) and 19-year-old veteran Zach Magwood (13-6–19).
2017 OHL Priority Selection first overall pick Ryan Suzuki (3-13–16) enters play with points in four of his past five games.
