Storm acquire Bottineau from rival Rangers
The Guelph Storm and Kitchener Rangers don’t make swaps all that often, but they made a notable move together on Tuesday as 18-year-old forward Justin Bottineau was dealt east on Highway 7.
Now in his third season, Bottineau joins the Storm in exchange for a fifth round pick in 2028. The 6-foot, 170Ib. winger has nine points (4-5–9) through 29 games this season.
“We would like to thank Justin for his hard work and dedication to our team,” said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. “It is never easy to see a player move on that has been here for three years but hopefully this will provide more opportunity for Justin moving forward.”
Originally Kitchener’s third round pick from the Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program in 2022, the Burlington, Ont. native as produced 10 goals, 21 assists and 31 points over 140 regular season games with the Blueshirts, who currently sit second in the Midwest Division with a 22-6-2-1 record.
Bottineau joins the 9-18-2-1 Storm in Windsor on Thursday when they take on the West Division-leading Spitifres. The Storm meet the Rangers again on Sunday, January 5th at the Sleeman Centre.
