OHL Clubs Select 28 Players in 2024 CHL Import Draft
Toronto, Ont. – Ontario Hockey League member teams selected a total of 28 players in the 2024 CHL Import Draft on Wednesday, July 3rd. The OHL selections consisted of 19 forwards, six defencemen and three goaltenders.
The two-round draft took place online with the order of selection rotating through each of the CHL’s three leagues. The Windsor Spitfires selected third overall for the first time in 31 years as a result of winning the OHL Priority Selection Draft Lottery back in March.
The Spitfires led off the OHL proceedings with the selection of Washington Capitals third round NHL Draft pick Ilya Protas, who spent the 2023-24 season with the USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers. Protas, who hails from Belarus, was named to the USHL’s All-Rookie Team this past season after tallying 51 points (14-37-51) in 61 regular season contests.
