IceDogs Unleashed: Newcomer Joey Banas wasting no time making his mark for Niagara
By Matt Latour//Niagara News Daily
NIAGARA, ONT – The Niagara IceDogs are coming out of the weekend on a two-game winning streak, with the newest member of the team looking to help extend that.
Last week, the team traded a 5th-round pick to the Brantford Bulldogs in exchange for winger Joey Banas.
He says he’s been welcomed with open arms since joining the team, despite coming from one of their biggest rivals.
“It’s definitely a little weird playing [the Brantford Bulldogs]… I was pretty tight with the guys on the other side. Now, this is my home, and I’m going to be fighting for the IceDogs.”
Banas wasted no time making an impact for Niagara, scoring a go-ahead goal against the Barrie Colts during Saturday’s 4-2 victory at Meridian Centre.
He says it was even sweeter than he expected.
