IceDogs Fall to Firebirds
Flint, MI – The Niagara IceDogs seven-game winning streak came to an end Saturday night, falling to (22-10-1-1) on the season, after a 4-1 loss against the Flint Firebirds.
The IceDogs fell behind early, with Flint opening the scoring early into the first frame to go up 1-0. However, Andrei Loshko responded and buried his 20th goal of the campaign on the Power Play, tying the game up at one apiece headed into the first intermission.
The second frame brought a goaltending duel, with excellent saves from both Owen Flores and Nathan Day. Though, it was Flint who found their way into pay dirt with a goal from Urban Podrekar halfway through the period to take the lead 2-1.
The final twenty minutes were tightly contested, with both teams trading chances back and forth. The IceDogs pulled their goalie for the extra attacker in hopes of tying it up, however it was not meant to be. Flint scored the empty netter to make it 3-1 and shorty thereafter added a late marker for a 4-1 final score.
The IceDogs are back in action tomorrow night, with a quick turnaround against the Saginaw Spirit at Dow Event Center at 5:30 pm.
