IceDogs Can’t Contain Colts
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs fell to (28-27-4-4) against the Barrie Colts in a high-scoring battle on Tuesday night at the Meridian Centre, dropping a 7-4 decision.
Niagara came out with energy in front of their home crowd, although Barrie struck first at 7:11 of the opening frame, with Jaiden Newton finding the back of the net. The IceDogs answered back later in the period, as Kevin He buried his 33rd of the season off a deflection at 14:38, with assists from Alex Assadourian and Jack Brauti.
The IceDogs carried that momentum into the second, grabbing their first lead of the night when Sean Doherty ripped home a one-timer off an offensive zone faceoff at 8:26, assisted by Andrei Loshko. However, Barrie responded with three straight goals before the period ended, reclaiming control.
The Colts extended their lead in the third with two quick goals, but Niagara kept pushing. Ethan Czata capitalized on a slick passing play with Ryan Roobroeck at 8:40 to cut into the deficit. Barrie answered right back, adding another insurance goal before Mathieu Paris capped off the IceDogs’ scoring with a late power-play marker at 16:38, assisted by Kevin He and Jack Brauti.
Despite the loss, Niagara showed flashes, with multiple contributors finding the scoresheet. They’ll look to bounce back in their next matchup.
