ICEDOGS ACQUIRE JOEY BANAS FROM BULLDOGS
NIAGARA, ONT. – The Niagara IceDogs have acquired forward Joey Banas from the Brantford Bulldogs in exchange for a 2028 fifth-round pick, originally belonging to the Oshawa Generals.
“Joey Banas will bring a level of offence I feel we could use at this point,” said IceDogs General Manager Dale DeGray. “He’s a smaller, stocky-built player who works hard and competes for pucks.”
In just five games played for the Bulldogs, Banas has put up four points (1G-3A), with his lone goal coming on the Power Play.
Banas originally signed with the Bulldogs as a free agent out of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres program. He spent the following two seasons with Salisbury School in the U.S. High School Prep ranks while also playing with the Avon Regals and Northern Connecticut Nor’Easters U16 AAA programs.
Returning to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres for the 2025-26 OJHL season, Banas took a significant step offensively, recording 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points in just 20 games. His 34 points led the Jr. Sabres and were 13 more than the club’s next-highest scorer.
The 5-foot-7, 165-pound right-shot winger is a gifted offensive player who uses his skill to create time and space with the puck and possesses a dangerous shot and quick release.
“We would like to welcome Joey and his family to the IceDogs organization,” DeGray added. “We look forward to seeing him on the ice on Thursday.”
