Gens Take on Troops in Home Opener
OSHAWA, ON – The Oshawa Generals are hosting the North Bay Battalion at the Tribute Communities Centre for the home opener of the 2026-27 OHL season at 6:05 Sunday evening.
The Generals are coming off a big 3-2 victory over the Brampton Steelheads on Friday night. The first overall pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, Kane Cloutier, scored late in the third period in his OHL debut to secure the Gennies two points.
North Bay is coming off a 2-1 victory over the Barrie Colts in their home and season opener with a goal midway through the third period from right-winger Parker Vaughan. The Colts selected Vaughn fifth overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection and played 32 games for them during the 2024-25 season before being traded to North Bay.
Last season, Oshawa and North Bay split the season series 2-2, and each game was action-packed, with at least four goals being scored in each of the four games.
The player to watch for the Oshawa Generals on Sunday is left-winger Onni Kalto. Kalto recorded a power-play goal as well as an assist yesterday en route to the 3-2 victory over the Steelheads.
Kalto was all over the ice, generating multiple chances off the rush and getting pucks on net with four shots on goal.
For the Battalion, we are going to be watching their captain, Nolan Laird. The centreman scored the opening goal in the Battalion’s 2-1 win over the Colts and won 62 percent of his faceoffs
