Gens open 2026/27 campaign in Brampton
BRAMPTON, ON – The Oshawa Generals are opening up their 2026-27 campaign on the road at the CAA Centre on Friday, Sep. 18th at 7:00 PM, against the Brampton Steelheads.
Oshawa and Brampton both ended their pre-season with 4-3 losses in the shootout. The Generals fell to the Niagara IceDogs while the Steelheads dropped their game to the Barrie Colts.
Both teams are hoping to start off on the right foot after they both lost their season opener last season. The Generals dropped a game in North Bay, 4-2, against the Battalion and the Steelheads lost their 2025-26 season opener to the Peterborough Petes, 6-3.
Last season, the Gennies and Steelheads split the season series over the four games they played against each other, with each team winning their two home games.
The player to watch for the Oshawa Generals in this matchup is the first overall pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, Kane Cloutier.
Cloutier is coming off a fantastic draft year with the U16 AAA Vaughn Kings, posting 32 goals and 26 assists for 58 points in just 33 games. He also found the back of the net twice in the preseason for the Generals, as well as recording two assists for four total points.
The top prospect will be looking to start his OHL career off right against the Steelheads on Friday.
On the Steelheads side of the ice, the player to watch is right-winger Keaton Ardagh. He is coming into his sophomore season with the Steelheads after a solid rookie year.
Ardagh scored 14 goals in 64 games, which was good enough to tie him for second place on the Steelheads.
