Colts Acquire Overage Luchuk from Windsor
Barrie, ON– Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Windsor Spitfires
The Barrie Colts acquire overage forward Aaron Luchuk for forward Curtis Douglas, a 2nd Round Pick in 2021 (SBY), a 2nd Round Pick in 2022 and a 3rd Round Pick in 2024.
Luchuk, was selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the 3rd Round (68th overall) in 2013. The 5’10” forward from Kingston, ON appeared in 30 games with the Spitfires this season, tallying 51 points (28 Goals, 23 Assists). Luchuk was part of the Memorial Cup Champion Spitfires team and will bring a lot of playoff experience to the Barrie Colts Hockey Club. “To give up a young prospect like Curtis Douglas is not something we wanted to do, but at the same time we are bringing in one of the premiere overage players in the league with Aaron Luchuk. Aaron brings with him experience as a winner, to go along with tremendous offensive and leadership abilities” said Barrie Colts Manager Jason Ford.
The trade sends 2nd year forward Curtis Douglas along with two 2nd round picks and a 3rd round pick to the Spitfires. The 6’8” forward from Oakville, ON in his second year with the club scored 7 goals and 11 assists in 28 games with the Colts this season. “We’d like to wish Curtis the best of luck in Windsor with his new team” said Ford.
Windsor and Barrie faceoff for the first time this season on February 3rd when Douglas and the Spitfires come to Barrie.
Barrie expects Luchuk to be in the lineup tonight against the Owen Sound Attack at 7:30pm. The Colts will then head on the road for the rest of the weekend with stops in Erie on Friday and Niagara on Saturday to head into the Holiday season.
