Titan ground Eagles for first home win of the season
BATHURST, N.B. – Following a loss to the Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday the Acadie-Bathurst Titan returned to action Friday night as they played host to the Cape Breton Eagles.
The Titan opened the scoring 4:20 into the game on a goal from newly-named captain Cole Larkin. Midway through the opening period Noah Ryan doubled their lead with his third of the season giving the home team a 2-0 edge after 20 minutes of play.
Cape Breton got on the board early in the second period but Acadie-Bathurst responded with goals from Ben Allison, Joseph Henneberry, and Jacob Melanson to pull ahead 5-1. Melanson’s second of the night of the night made it 6-1 in the third period before Luke Patterson and William Shields cut the Eagles deficit to three goals. Prince Edward Island natives Cameron MacLean and Cam Squires each scored late in the game to account for a 7-4 final score in favour of the Titan.
MacLean, Henneberry, and Melanson each finished with three points on the night while Larkin and Riley Kidney both had a pair. The Titan and the Eagles will do battle again Saturday night at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
