RECAP: Robinson notches first QMJHL win in Bathurst
BATHURST, NB – Justin Robinson made 34 saves for his first win in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Friday night as the Saint John Sea Dogs downed the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 3-1 at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
The home side got off to a fast start opening the scoring just 1:30 into the game on a goal from Colby Huggan. Acadie-Bathurst maintained the lead until Sea Dogs captain Peter Reynolds netted his third tally of the campaign at the 10:45 mark to even the score at one goal apiece. It remained 1-1 at the end of the first period with the Sea Dogs narrowly outshooting the Titan 14-13.
Saint John pulled ahead 57 seconds into the second period as Reynolds found Noah Reinhart on a 2-on-1 break and the 19-year-old forward slipped a backhander past Acadie-Bathurst goaltender Josh Fleming. The Sea Dogs continued to lead through 40 minutes of play and into the third period, thanks in part to a number of key saves by Robinson.
With under a minute to play in the game and the Titan net empty, Reynolds won the race to a loose puck before firing into the open cage to seal a 3-1 victory for the Sea Dogs.
The Sea Dogs are back on home ice tomorrow night as the Moncton Wildcats make their first visit of the season. Tickets for the game are only $7, plus taxes and fees, and can be purchased at the TD Station box office or online at tickets.tdstation.com.
