Rocket uses overtime to top Titan

Alex Micallef scored the game winner and Josh Currie added a hat-trick as the P.E.I. Rocket edged the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 6-5 in overtime Wednesday night in Bathurst, N.B.
The win improves the Rocket to a 25-17-2-0 season record.
Ben Duffy (1G, 3A), Currie (3G) and Matej Beran (3A) led the way for the Rocket. Michael Beaudry had two goals and three helpers for the Titan.
The Rocket opened the scoring 37 seconds into the game with Currie’s 36th goal of the season. Duffy and Beran drew the assists. Moments later, Beaudry tied the game for the Titan at 4:08. The Rocket regained the lead with Jack Nevins’ sixth goal of the season at 16:02. Matt Bursey and Erik Robichaud assisted. The Rocket took a 3-1 lead with a power play goal from Currie at 19:26. Duffy and Beran drew the assists.
In the second period, Marc-Olivier Brouillard got the Titan within a goal at 2:23 before Currie gave the Rocket a 4-2 lead with his 38th goal of the season and his ninth shorthanded goal of the season at 10:52. Patrick Walsh (power play) and Christophe Lalancette scored at 15:54 and 16:15 respectively for the Titan to tie the game.
In the third period, Duffy scored his 28th goal of the season at 1:54 to give the Rocket a 5-4 lead. Beran and Jimmy Oligny assisted on the goal. The Titan tied the game at 12:34 with a goal from Beaudry.
Micallef converted on a great setup by Duffy at 1:27 of overtime to give the Rocket the win.
Antoine Bibeau made 33 saves in goal for the Rocket.
Mason McDonald allowed three goals on 40 shots after replacing Titan starter Jacob Brennan who allowed three goals on eight shots.
The Rocket travels to Baie-Comeau Friday night to battle the second-overall Drakkar. Puck drops at 8:30 PM Atlantic time.
