Mooseheads down Rocket

Jonathan Drouin’s late third period goal proved as the winner as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the P.E.I. Rocket 4-3 Saturday night in Halifax.

The loss drops the Rocket to a season record of 24-17-2-0.

Matej Beran led the way for the Rocket with a goal and two helpers.

Beran opened the scoring for the Rocket with a power play goal at 4:29 in the first period. Ben Duffy an Josh Curie drew assists. Jack Nevins gave the Rocket a 2-0 lead at 14:04. Beran and Currie drew assists.

In the second period, the Mooseheads had goals from Martin Frk and Nathan MacKinnon (power play) to tie the game. The Rocket regained the lead with a goal from Tomas Pavelka with less two minutes left in the frame. Duffy and Beran drew the assists.

In the third period Darcy Ashley tied the game at three with a power play goal at 5:11. Drouin scored at 13:01 to give Halifax the 4-3 lead.

Zachery Fucale picked up the win for Halifax making 22 saves.

Maxime Lagace made 34 saves in the loss for the Rocket.

The next game for the Rocket is on the road in Acadie-Bathurst on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
