The Canadian Hockey League (CHL), together with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the 2026 Memorial Cup Host Organizing Committee, have announced the launch of the Volunteer Program for the 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota, inviting fans and community members to be part of history by helping deliver the 106th edition of one of hockey’s most storied events.
Hosted by the Kelowna Rockets, the 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota will run May 21–31, 2026, marking the tournament’s return to Kelowna for the first time since 2004. The 106th Memorial Cup will be a milestone celebration of junior hockey — coinciding with the Rockets’ 30th anniversary season and the CHL’s 50th anniversary as the umbrella organization of the WHL, Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
Each year, hundreds of volunteers power the Memorial Cup — welcoming teams and fans, supporting game operations, and bringing the host community’s championship experience to life. Since 2022, nearly 2,000 volunteers in Saint John (N.B.), Kamloops (B.C.), Saginaw (Mich.), and Rimouski (Que.) have helped bring the tournament to life in their communities. With preparations underway, the Host Organizing Committee, the Kelowna Rockets, and the CHL are once again calling on the community to fuel the event experience — from the Fan Festival area in the Prospera Place parking lot, to the VIP transportation program, to family-friendly activations in Stuart Park.
“Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Memorial Cup. Year after year, host communities rally to bring this championship to life — creating the experience that makes the Memorial Cup one of the most iconic events in hockey,” said Dan MacKenzie, CHL President. “As we look ahead to the culmination of the CHL’s 50th anniversary season, we’re proud to shine a light on the people behind the championship and invite the community to be part of this historic event.”
The 2026 Memorial Cup will require approximately 450–500 volunteers, with opportunities available across a wide range of roles. Volunteers will have access to flexible, self-serve scheduling, with morning, afternoon, and evening shifts available throughout the tournament.
“When the Memorial Cup comes to town, it becomes a true community effort — and volunteers are what bring it to life,” said Steve Thomson, Co-Chair of the 2026 Memorial Cup Host Committee. “Kelowna has a proud tradition of stepping up for big moments, and this will be one of them. We’re excited to welcome volunteers who want to play a meaningful role behind the scenes and help showcase our community’s spirit throughout the tournament.”

About the Memorial Cup
The Memorial Cup is the Canadian Hockey League’s iconic championship event, bringing together the league champions of the Western Hockey League (WHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), along with a host team, in a four-club round-robin tournament to crown the national champion. First awarded in 1919, the Memorial Cup has become one of the most storied and prestigious trophies in hockey, shaping more than a century of junior hockey history in North America.
Originally donated by the Ontario Hockey Association to honour Canadian soldiers who gave their lives in the First World War, the trophy was rededicated in 2010 to commemorate all fallen members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Today, the Memorial Cup stands as a powerful symbol of remembrance, sacrifice, and national pride, while showcasing the best junior hockey talent in the world.
