CHL to NHL: former Rebels captain Uchacz debuts with Golden Knights
Former Red Deer Rebels captain Kai Uchacz made his NHL debut with the Vegas Golden Knights Wednesday.
In a 5-2 win over Vancouver, Uchacz played 11:49 and recorded five hits across 19 shifts.
The 10th overall pick in the 2018 WHL Draft by Seattle, the De Winton, AB., native played 57 games with the T-Birds. Ahead of the 2021-22 season, he was traded to Red Deer where in three seasons he recorded 106 goals and 199 points in 188 games. He ranks fourth all-time in Rebels history in goals scored while he places 11th in scoring.
In 2022-23 Uchacz became just the sixth player in team history to score 50 goals in a season.
Undrafted into the NHL, the 22-year-old has played 107 games with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights where he’s tallied 51 points (20 goals).
