Winterhawks’ Hossa named WHL Player of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Bank of Montreal MasterCard – Western Hockey League Player of the Week is Marcel Hossa of the Portland Winterhawks. Hossa earned player of the week honours by recording nine points (2G-7A) in three games for the week.
Hossa began the week on Friday, October 20, recording two assists in a 6-4 loss against the Kelowna Rockets. On Saturday, October 21, Hossa scored a goal and added three assists in a 5-4 overtime victory against the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds.
On Sunday, October 22, Hossa scored a goal and added two assists in a 4-3 win against the visiting Kamloops Blazers.
The 19-year-old from Stara Lubovna, Slovakia, was selected 16th-overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
