ICE’s Comrie named WHL Player of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Bank of Montreal MasterCard – Western Hockey League Player of the Week is Mike Comrie of the Kootenay ICE. Comrie earned player of the week honours by recording 12 points (9G-3A) in three games. Comrie recorded nine goals and three assists including two power-play goals, a game-winning goal and a short-handed goal. He helped lead the ICE to a perfect 3-0 for the week.
Comrie began the week on Wednesday, October 11, recording a hat trick and two assists in a 6-2 win against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. On Friday, October 13, in the ICE’s home opener in their new building, the Cranbrook Memorial Complex, Comrie scored four goals in a 5-3 victory against the visiting Regina Pats.
On Saturday, October 14, Comrie scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-3 come from behind win against the visiting Calgary Hitmen.
Rookie Mike Comrie, a 20-year-old draft choice of the Edmonton Oilers from Edmonton, Alta. leads the WHL scoring race with 35 points (21G-14A) in 12 games.
