NHL Prospect Watch: Carolina Hurricanes
Ahead of the 2025-26 hockey season, we’re diving into the WHL prospect pool for each of the NHL’s 32 teams. This series will highlight current and former WHLers who are signed to an NHL contract, have recently been drafted by an NHL team, or meet the NHL’s definition of a rookie.
Today, we take a look at the lone soldier in the Carolina Hurricanes’ (storm) system.
Ronan Seeley
Former Everett Silvertips co-captain Ronan Seeley is coming off a third successful professional season. After starting 2023-24 with the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals and working his way up to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, Seeley earned an ‘A’ for the Wolves in 2024-25. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound defenceman bagged three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 69 games and made two more appearances in the 2025 AHL Playoffs. Seeley, 22, inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Hurricanes on July 21, 2025. The Yellowknife, NWT product played four seasons with the Silvertips, netting 102 points (20G-82A) in 190 regular-season matches. The Hurricanes selected the stalwart defender in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft. Seeley was named a 2022 WHL U.S. Division Second Team All-Star in 2022 and helped Canada capture gold at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm in 2021, @Chicago_Wolves defenseman Ronan Seeley is determined to continue playing the game he loves.
