2025 WHL Graduates: Tri-City Americans
Over the summer, the Western Hockey League will be celebrating the WHL Graduates from the 2024-25 season in a 22-part, team-by-team series.
Today, we continue with the graduating players from the Tri-City Americans.
Carter MacAdams (F)
Hometown: South Surrey, B.C.
WHL Career Stats: 260 GP – 51 G-83 A – 134 PTS
WHL Draft: 2019 – 4th Round, 70th Overall (Prince George)
From a cat, to a hitman, to an American, Carter MacAdams has played a lot of roles during his Western Hockey League career. But, the role that he is currently playing is WHL graduate, as the forward exits the League after five seasons. MacAdams’ journey through the WHL first began at the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, after hearing his name called in the fourth round by the Prince George Cougars. From there, the product of South Surrey, B.C., wasted no time in making an impression with the B.C. Division Club, scoring his first career goal in his WHL debut on March 27, 2021. MacAdams spent parts of three season in Northern B.C.’s capital, collecting 48 points (18 G-30 A) in 117 appearances. In January 2023, MacAdams was acquired by the Calgary Hitmen in a trade that sent high-scoring forward, Zac Funk, to the Cougars. And, while short, MacAdams’ tenure in Cowtown was sweet, as the looming winger racked up 16 points (5 G-11 A) in 36 games with the Hitmen. MacAdams’ final stop in his WHL career was Kennewick, Wash., as he joined the Americans via trade in November 2023. MacAdams spent nearly two seasons with the Ams, tallying up 70 points (28 G-42 A) in 107 skates. MacAdams also set a career-high in points during his 20-year-old season, boasting 44 points (18 G-26 A) in 61 regular season games. Having completed his WHL eligibility, the 21-year-old has committed to Toronto Metro University’s men’s hockey program for the 2025-26 season.

Jake Sloan (F)
Hometown: Leduc, Alta.
WHL Career Stats: 265 GP – 101 G-140 A – 241 PTS
WHL Draft: 2019 – 3rd Round, 55th Overall (Tri-City Americans)
Time to post the job listing – the Tri-City Americans are officially on the hunt for a new high-scoring forward, leader, and captain for the 2025-26 WHL Season.
Having completed his WHL career, longtime forward and outgoing Americans captain Jake Sloan is on to future endeavours as a WHL graduate.
Since hearing his name called by the Ams in the third round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, Sloan has been a staple in the Toyota Centre. He signed his WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement on June 12, 2019, and recorded his first career point – an assist – in his WHL debut on February 19, 2020. After making 20 appearances in his first two seasons as a member of the Americans, Sloan secured his full-time roster spot during the 2021-22 season – a rookie campaign that saw the budding forward collect 33 points (17 G-16 A) in 57 games. And, as each season progressed, so did Sloan’s on-ice performance. The forward hailing from Leduc, Alta., set career bests in points every single season with the Ams. By his final season in the Western League, Sloan was a nightly producer, hitting the 73-point plateau (29 G-44 A) in 62 games played. Off the ice, Sloan also grew into a leadership role with Tri-City. After serving as an alternate captain for the 2023-24 campaign, Sloan returned as the Club’s captain for his sixth and final campaign. Sloan graduates from the WHL having joined the 100-goal and 200-point club. The 21-year-old is currently committed to Bowling Green State University for the 2025-26 season.

Brandon Whynott (F)
Hometown: Langley, B.C.
WHL Career Stats: 272 GP – 54 G-76 A –130 PTS
WHL Draft: 2019 – 2nd Round, 35th Overall (Calgary Hitmen)
Hey Siri, play, ‘Don’t Go’ by Skrillex, Justin Bieber, and Don Toliver.
After a five-season career in the Western Hockey League, popstar doppelgänger, Brandon Whynott, is taking his talents outside of the major junior scene. The veteran skater is joining fellow Tri-City forwards, Carter MacAdams and Jake Sloan, on the Americans’ graduating class of 2025.
While Whynott’s relation to Canada’s favourite musical talent, Justin Bieber, may still be up for debate, the significance of his departure from the Americans’ ranks is not. Originally selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the second round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft, Whynott made his way to Kennewick, Wash., following a trade in August 2023. With 141 games of experience to his name, Whynott proved to be an instant source of offensive firepower for Tri-City. In his first campaign with the U.S. Division Club, Whynott posted 16 goals, 17 assists, and 33 points in 64 appearances. However, Whynott waited until his fifth and final season of WHL eligibility to hit his stride. The product of Langley, B.C. posted his career best of 26 goals, 34 assists, and 60 points in 67 regular season skates during his send-off season. Whynott’s seven power-play goals and three game-winning goals also went down as his personal bests in the WHL. Having completed his WHL career, the veteran forward is set to join his teammate, Jake Sloan, at Bowling Green State University.
