2025 WHL Graduates: Swift Current Broncos
Over the summer, the Western Hockey League will be celebrating the WHL Graduates from the 2024-25 season in a 22-part, team-by-team series.
Today, we continue with the graduating players from the Swift Current Broncos.
Carlin Dezainde (F)
Hometown: Calgary, Alta.
WHL Career Stats: 254 GP – 69 G-95 A – 164 PTS
WHL Draft: Listed (Medicine Hat)
Carlin Dezainde graduates the Western League on top of the food chain.
From prowling the jungle floor as a Tiger to patrolling the mountains as a Cougar and galloping across the prairies as a Bronco, Carlin Dezainde channelled his wild side during his five-season stint in the WHL. Originally signed to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Medicine Hat Tigers in April 2021, Dezainde made his WHL debut on April 2, 2021, against the Calgary Hitmen. After totalling up four points (1 G-3 A) in 13 skates as an affiliate player, Dezainde returned for his first full WHL season in 2021-22. It was in that campaign where the Tabby turned Cougar, as he was dealt to Prince George in December 2021. The move to Northern British Columbia came at the perfect time for Dezainde, as the forward began the flourish with his new club. After posting a mere six points (1 G-5 A) in 57 games between the Cougars and Tigers in 2021-22, the budding centre returned to the CN Centre with a vengeance. In 2022-23, Dezainde posted 26 points (8 G-18 A) in 66 games, followed by 56 points (25 G-31 A) in 51 games during the 2023-24 campaign. Dezainde also proved to be monumental in the post-season for Prince George, helping his club reach the 2024 Western Conference Championship Series with six points (1 G-5 A) in 15 WHL Playoffs contests. However, Dezainde’s best season came in his final season of WHL eligibility, posting a career-best of 34 goals, 38 assists, and 72 points in 67 games with both Prince George and the Swift Current Broncos. Having been acquired by the Broncos in October 2024, Dezainde exited the WHL as a member of Swift Current’s graduating class. Now, the Calgary, Alta. local has his focus set on the University of Connecticut, having committed to the men’s hockey program for the 2025-26 season.
Vroom, vroom.

Reid Dyck (G)
Hometown: Winkler, Man.
WHL Career Stats: 153 GP – 3.51 GAA-.892 SV% – 71 Wins
WHL Draft: 2019 – 3rd Round, 45th Overall – (Swift Current)
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – he’s simply, Reid Dyck-ulous!
Pushing the poorly constructed pun aside, Swift Current Broncos favourite Reid Dyck has spent the last five seasons making headlines in the WHL. And, only the good kinds, of course!
From consistent reliability to the highest count of grand larceny, the netminder from Winkler, Man. graduates from the WHL with quite the resume. After hearing his name called in the third round of the 2019 WHL Prospects, Dyck would waste no time in making his name synonymous with the Broncos organization. He made his WHL debut on March 17, 2021, and collected his first career win – a 28-save performance against the Prince Albert Raiders – March 22, 2021. After an eight-game campaign in 2020-21, Dyck saw more starts in each season spent in Speedy Creek. By the 2022-23 WHL Season the full-time starting role was given to the Manitoban, as he took to the crease on 40 occasions. One season later, Dyck cemented himself as one of the League’s best puck stoppers, boasting a regular season record of 25-7-2-0, two shutouts, and a save percentage (SV%) of .911. Dyck also led the Broncos to the second round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs, before bowing out to the Moose Jaw Warriors. He was also named to the Central Division’s Second All-Star Team at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. In total, Dyck graduates from the WHL with a record of 71-67-6-2, six shutouts, and a SV% of .892.

Hunter Mayo (D)
Hometown: Saskatoon, Sask.
WHL Career Stats: 251 GP – 50G-93A – 143 PTS
WHL Draft: 2019 – 2nd Round, 23rd Overall (Red Deer)
Is mayo an instrument?
No! But, he sure is a WHL graduate!
After a five-season career spent with both the Red Deer Rebels and Swift Current Broncos, blueliner Hunter Mayo is on to future endeavours. Mayo first broke on to the WHL scene following his selection during the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft. Going in the second round (23rd overall) to the Rebels, Mayo made his WHL debut on February 27, 2021. After making just six starts as a 16-year-old affiliate, Mayo cracked Red Deer’s full-time roster in 2021-22. In his rookie season, the two-way defenceman collected an impressive 17 points (3 G-14 A) and a +19 rating in 65 appearances. And, as each year progressed, so did Mayo’s on-ice performance. Mayo eclipsed the 35-point plateau in three consecutive seasons, including two campaigns with over 40 points. Yet, the blue liner’s best campaign came in his final year of eligibility. Acquired during the 2025 WHL Trade Deadline by the Broncos, the product of Saskatoon, Sask. split his 20-year-old season between Swift Current and Red Deer. In a combined 60 regular season appearances, Mayo collected a career-high of 19 goals, 30 assists, and 49 points. The defenceman also collected four game-winning goals – placing him first among all WHL defenceman. Having completed his final year of WHL eligibility, Mayo has announced his commitment to the NCAA’s Merrimack College for the 2025-26 season.
