Cougars ‘Shore’ up goaltending lineup in trade with Rebels
Prince George, B.C. — Peyton Shore is bound for the Northern Capital.
The Prince George Cougars have traded for the 6-foot-2, 179-pound netminder in a deal with the Red Deer Rebels.
In return, the Rebels get a sixth-round pick (from Penticton) in the 2027 WHL Prospects Draft.
Shore, 18, is preparing for his third season in the WHL.
In 2025-26, he posted a 4-12-0-1 record, a 4.71 GAA, an .859 save percentage and one shutout on a Rebels squad that eked into the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
He was named first star of the game with a 35-save shutout against the Brandon Wheat Kings on January 7, 2026, and earned Real Canadian Superstore Save of the Night honours on three occasions.

The Rebels drafted Shore with the 100th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
Coincidentally, Shore debuted with a 38-save victory in a 3-2 win over the Prince George Cougars on November 29, 2024.
The Winnipeg, Man. product owns an 11-19-1-1 career record, a 4.22 GAA, an .863 save percentage and two shutouts, while facing an average of 27 shots per game.
Prince George is enjoying a run of four straight seasons of top-two finishes in the B.C. Division, but face a changing of the guard in net.
With reigning WHL Goaltender of the Year and San Jose Sharks prospect Joshua Ravensbergen moving on after three seasons in the league, the Cats are turning to second-year Ukrainian netminder Alexander Levshyn and Shore to maintain the team’s reputation as a defensive powerhouse.
Prince George opens the 2026-27 regular season at home with a playoff rivalry matchup against the Penticton Vees on Friday, September 18, at 7:00 p.m. PT.
