Giants acquire Kovich from Silvertips for conditional pick
Langley, B.C. – The Vancouver Giants have acquired 18-year-old forward Nickolas Kovich from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for a conditional eighth-round pick in the 2029 WHL Prospects Draft.
The trade was announced Saturday afternoon.
The 6-foot-2, 187-pound Kovich, who hails from Richmond, B.C., spent the bulk of the 2025-26 season with the Richmond Sockeyes of the Pacific International Junior Hockey League (PIJHL), tallying 33 points (15G-18A) in 31 games. He also saw action in seven games with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
Kovich was listed by the Silvertips on September 1, 2026. In three preseason games with Everett, he has registered one goal and five shots on goal.
Originally selected by the Red Deer Rebels in the fourth round (75th overall) of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, Kovich previously appeared in four preseason games with the Rebels in 2024, logging one goal and two shots on goal.
Kovich is expected to dress for the Giants tonight in preseason action when they host the Victoria Royals at Jon Baillie Arena in Port Coquitlam, B.C. (7 p.m. PT).
