Familiar Foe
Round 2 kicks off with a new opponent, but one well-known to the Winterhawks and their fans. Portland battled the Everett Silvertips eight times during the regular season and came away with a stout 6-2-0-0 record, a key factor in winning the U.S. Division title over its rival. The Hawks also ousted the Tips in five games during the first round of last year’s playoffs, which will live fresh in the minds of several players on both clubs.
With one round of postseason play already under their belts and plenty of familiarity between them, there may not be much of a “feeling out” process that usually marks a Game 1 as these two rivals go 0 to 100 right from puck drop. Buckle up!

Masked Men
A total of 10 NHL prospects highlight this star-studded series between Portland and Everett. From names like Luca Cagnoni, Nate Danielson and James Stefan on Portland’s side to Austin Roest, Ben Hemmerling and Kaden Hammell for Everett, each shift is bound to feature a handful of incredible talents on both sides of the puck. But perhaps the most interesting duel comes between the pipes as each club’s netminder has the potential to be an X-factor in the series.
Both teams boast impressive goaltending, from reigning U.S. Division Goaltender of the Year in Winterhawks netminder Jan Špunar to reigning WHL Goaltender of the Week Tyler Palmer for Everett. Palmer had the better numbers in Round 1, but Špunar’s consistency throughout the year has been second to none. Amidst the chess match up front between these two highly skilled clubs, don’t forget to keep an eye on the boys in the paint.
Early Birds
That Round 1 atmosphere was incredible, but now it’s time to level up! Get to your seats early, bring the noise right from the start of warmups (6:25 P.M.) and let’s get the energy going before the puck even drops.

It’s also a dual-event night on the Rose Quarter campus, providing even more reason to get here early. VMC doors open at 6:00 P.M., and Hawks fans are encouraged to park in the East/West Garages with big crowds expected at both the VMC and Moda Center. See you then!
