GAME 5 PREVIEW: PATS AT WARRIORS
Game Preview: Eastern Division Quarter-final Game #5 Regina Pats at Moose Jaw Warriors
It is an elimination game tonight and for the first time in a few playoff years, the Warriors are the one’s looking to punch their ticket to the next round.
The Warriors still need to win tonight when they face the Regina Pats at Mosaic Place (puck drop is 7 p.m.). The road team has won three of the four games thus far in the series, but the Warriors held the second most win (30) total at home during the 2011-12 regular season.
The Warriors come in to tonight’s game having won the last three games. The Warriors have scored 18 goals in those three games and given up eight. The Warriors have used the special teams to make a difference in this series. The powerplay overall is at a 29.2% success rate and the penalty kill has only given up two goals in 14 times shorthanded.
The line of James Henry in the middle and Quinton Howden and Sam Fioretti on the wing have help to lead the Warriors offensive charge. Howden and Henry lead the club with eight points in the four games. And Fioretti has six points with his two goals and four assists. Two rookies have stepped to the forefront for the Warriors this young 2012 playoff run. Import first-year winger Eric Arnold leads the team with four goals in four games thus far. And 16-year-old Brayden Point (a 15-year-old in league term) has back-to-back game winning goals, including Wednesday night’s double-overtime winner to put the club one win away from advancing.
The game tonight is and more than likely will be at capacity when the puck drops at 7 p.m. Games 1 and 2 were unbelievably loud and the Warriors fans’ were extremely boisterous for the two opening games last weekend.
