HAWKS TAKE 3-0 SERIES LEAD OVER AMS – Ty Rattie scored his 17th goal of the playoffs, a power play marker, 11:21 into the third period to help the Portland Winterhawks to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Tri-City Americans in Game 3 of the Kal Tire WHL Western Conference Championship series in WHL playoff action on Wednesday night.
The victory sees the Winterhawks take a 3-0 stranglehold in the best-of-seven series versus the Americans, and leaves them one more win away from advancing to their second straight appearance in the WHL Championship series.
Marcel Noebels and Brad Ross also scored for the Winterhawks, who trailed 1-0 after the opening period but scored once in the second frame and twice in the third period to post their fourth straight playoff win.
Adam Hughesman scored the only goal for the Americans, who went 1-for-6 on the power play in the contest as they now find themselves on the verge of elimination from the playoffs with the Game 3 loss.
Mac Carruth made 38 saves to claim his 29th career playoff victory for the Winterhawks. Ty Rimmer stopped 44 of 46 shots he faced in absorbing the loss for the Ams.
The Winterhawks host the Americans for Game 4 of the best-of-seven series on Thursday night.

HUSKY WHL EASTERN CONFERENCE
WARRIORS 5, OIL KINGS 1
Kenton Miller scored a pair of goals as the Moose Jaw Warriors posted a 5-1 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings in Game 4 of the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship series on Wednesday.
Rookie netminder Justin Paulic turned aside 28 of 29 shots he faced to pick up the win in his first ever WHL playoff appearance for the Warriors, who stay alive in the series with the victory but still trail 3-1.
Brayden Point – with his seventh goal of the playoffs – and Cam Braes also scored while James Henry added a goal and two assists for the Warriors, who tallied three times in the opening period in the contest.
Tyler Maxwell scored the only goal for the Oil Kings, who see their playoff win streak end at 11 games and their overall winning streak halted at 22 games. Laurent Brossoit turned in a 29-save effort in a losing cause.
The series heads back to Edmonton for Game 5 on Friday night.
