Tigers Win Fifth Straight with Victory Over Lethbridge
TIGERS TV HIGHLIGHTS – GAME SUMMARY
Lethbridge, AB – Four third period goals lifted the Tigers to a 5-4 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night in a battle of Central Divison rivals.
The win leaves the Tigers one point behind the Kootenay Ice for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Friday night wins by both Medicine Hat and the Ice, who defeated Red Deer, ensures a 1st Round WHL Playoff matchup between the two clubs.
A win combined with a Kootenay loss in regulation on Saturday night would vault the Tigers into sole possession of 4th place to end the season and give Medicine Hat home ice advantage in the 1st round of the WHL Playoffs.
Tigers forward Matt MacKay broke a 4-4 tie late in the final period, giving Medicine Hat it's fifth straight victory.
Trailing 3-1, heading into the third period, Taylor Gal, Bretton Cameron – with a pair – gave the Tigers a brief one goal lead before allowing the tying goal by Lethbridge.
Wacey Hamilton also scored for Medicine Hat, who captured their 40th win of the season.
Goaltender Deven Dubyk (9-4-0-2) stopped 5 of 7 shots in the win after replacing starting goaltender Tyler Bunz, who stopped 19 of 21 shots before receiving a game misconduct for a 2nd period altercation.
The Tigers and Hurricanes, who combined for 149 minutes in penalties, will meet again on Saturday night at The Arena in Medicine Hat.
