TIGERS SPLIT HOME AND HOME SERIES WITH A 4-1 WIN
The Tigers and Broncos finished off their home and home series with a Saturday night tilt at the Arena. The Broncos took the first game 6-4 coming back from a late three goal deficit. The Tigers got off to a quick start again but made sure that this one wouldn’t slip through their fingers. Trevor Cox (1G, 2A) and Marek Langhamer (36 saves) lead the Tigers to a 4-1 win on home ice.
Cox opened the scoring at 10:34 of the first period to put the Tigers up a goal early. The goal was his 11th of the season which surpassed his goal total from last season. Miles Koules added to the Tigers’ lead just over two minutes to go. Koules’ 10th was assisted by Cox and Tyler Lewington.
Boston Leier picked up a power play goal late in the second period to increase the lead to 3-0. Cox once again was in on the goal with an assist and Ty Stanton picked up the other. Leier’s goal was the only power play goal of the game. The Tigers had five opportunities, while the Broncos had three.
The Broncos finally beat Langhamer at the 6:07 mark of the third. Coda Gordon scored his 12th of the season from Colby Cave. The Broncos continued to pressure hard hoping for another comeback. Langhamer stood tall in net though and made some very timely saves. Down two goals and on the power play, Swift Current decided to pull their goal early for the extra skater to make it a 6 on 4. Dylan Bredo would make them pay though with his ninth of the season into the yawning cage. The goal iced the game for the Tigers and sent the fans home happy with a 4-1 win.
Langhamer was great in net for the Tigers making 36 saves for his seventh win. Landon Bow got the start in net for the Broncos but was pulled after allowing three goals on 13 shots. Steven Myland was strong in relief saving all the 13 shots he faced.
