Tigers Rout Canes In Central Division Showdown

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Roman Psurny and Kris Russell each scored twice as the Medicine Hat Tigers cruised to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes at The Arena on Wednesday night.

The Tigers also got goals from Darren Helm, Kevin Undershute and Brett Robertson. Adding the assists were Derek Dorsett with three, Psurny with two, while Kris Russell, Gord Baldwin, David Schlemko, Darren Helm, Daine Todd, Brett Robertson, Marek Curilla and Chris Stevens had singles. 

Colton Yellow Horn scored the lone goal for Lethbridge in the loss.

In goal, Matt Keetley kicked out 21 of 22 Lethbridge shots to record his league leading 41st win of the season.  Canes netminder Gavin McHale stopped 35 of the 42 shots he faced.

With the win, the Tigers hit the 100 point mark for the first time since the 1986-87 season.  Their record now stands at 46-16-1-7 (26-4-1-3 at home, 20-12-1-4 on the road) and sole possesion of top spot in the Central Division.

The Tigers will round out the regular season schedule on the weekend with a pair of games.  Saturday, the Bengals will face the Swift Current Broncos.  Sunday, they’ll host Regina.
