TIGERS FALL TO HITMEN
The Medicine Hat Tigers hit the highway and headed west to the Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the Calgary Hitmen for the 8th and final time this season.
The Tigers would be looking to get out to a hot start, but Calgary was able to jump out to the early lead scoring back to back goals on rebounds, leaving the Tigers netminder with no chance. Blake Stevenson and Mason Finley got the markers for the Hitmen.
The Tigers would draw to within one when rookie Andrew Basha put the Tigers on the board, registering his fourth of the campaign at the 16:07 mark of the opening period. Oasiz Wiesblatt and Noah Danielson had the assists on the play.
Calgary restored the two goal lead with just three seconds left in the period when Cael Zimmerman put his 12th of the season passed Bjorklund after some sustained pressure.
The Tigers were able to pull within four minutes in to the third period when Owen MacNeil found a loose puck in the slot and made no mistake putting the rotating puck in the top corner beating Hitmen netminder Ethan Buenaventura.
The Tigers were able to apply some steady pressure throughout the third period, but weren’t able to get the tying marker. Garin Bjorklund stopped 36 of 39 shots sent his direction earning the games second star.
The Tigers next action comes Saturday when the Lethbridge Hurricanes come to town. The Tigers will also be honouring the legendary voice of the Tigers, Bob Ridley. There will be a banner unveiling, commemorative card give away and much more.
