TIGERS BLANKED BY ICE 2-0
The goalies stole the show on Wednesday night as the Tigers hosted the Kootenay Ice at the Arena. Both teams had a number of scoring chances but the goalies kept the game close throughout. Kootenay scored an early power play goal in the that would hold up to be the game winner as Mackenzie Skapski and the Ice blanked the Tigers 2-0.
Brock Montgomery was the goal scorer for the Ice in the first period. His 28th of the season came off a nice redirect where Tanner Faith found Montgomery alone in front of the net. The fans wouldn’t see another goal until Levi Cable scored his 12th of the year into the empty Tigers goal with 11 seconds remaining in the game.
The Tigers outshot the Ice 42-40 but Mackenzie Skapski was red hot stopping all 42 shots to record his 31st win and seventh shutout of the season. Despite picking up the loss, Cam Lanigan was also great in net for the Tigers. He kept his team in the game until the very end making 38 saves.
On the power play the Tigers went 0 for 2, while killing off 3 of 4 Ice power play opportunities.
