GAME 67: TIGERS VS CALGARY HITMEN
VS CALGARY: This is the fifth of six meetings this season between the Tigers and Hitmen. This season Medicine Hat has posted a 2-2-0-0 record versus the Hitmen (1-1-0-0 at home and 1-1-0-0 in Calgary). Hunter Shinkaruk (3G, 4A) leads the Tigers with seven points in season series. Cam Lanigan (1-1-0-0) and Marek Langhamer (1-1-0-0) have both seen action between the posts against the Hitmen. Lanigan has started two games and come on in relief in another. He’s allowed five goals (2.07 GAA) on 81 shots (.938 Save %). Langhamer has also started a pair of games allowing three goals (1.91 GAA) on 50 shots (.940 Save %). On the power play the Tigers have gone 7 for 26 (26.9%), while killing off 18 for 20 (90.0%).

MILESTONES: Hunter Shinakruk recorded his 200th career point earlier in the month and is now quickly approaching another major milestone, 100 career goals. In 187 career games, Shinkaruk has scored 95 goals and assisted on 112 others for 207 points. Curtis Valk recently hit a career milestone recording his 150th career point. In 192 WHL games, Valk has scored 73 goals and added 80 assists for 153 points. The home town star has been lighting up the league this year with a team high 81 points (41G, 40A) in 65 games.
STREAKS: Marek Langhamer has been great in net over his last few starts for the Tigers. He’s won his last three consecutive starts allowing only four goals against on 107 shots. Boston Leier, Dylan Bredo, Jacob Doty and Trevor Cox are the Tigers’ iron men this season. The four players are the only Tigers that have played in all 66 games this season. Bredo hasn’t been scratched or missed a regular season game due to injury since his rookie season in 2009-2010.
ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marek Langhamer was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending February 24th. It is his first player of the week honour of the season. Langhamer allowed only one goal against on 67 shots in a pair of wins against the Swift Current Broncos.
