GAME 32: TIGERS @ LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES

VS LETHBRIDGE: This is the fifth of eight and meetings between these two Central Division rivals. Medicine Hat has posted a 2-2-0-0 record versus the Hurricanes (2-0-0-0 at home and 0-2-0-0 in Lethbridge). Dylan Busenius (2G, 3A) leads the Tigers with five points over the previous four games. Goaltenders Marek Langhamer (0-1-0-0), Dawson MacAuley (1-0-0-0) and Cam Lanigan (1-1-0-0) have split the games in net. Langhamer has started once and came in relief once allowing three goals (1.96 GAA) on 45 shots (.933 Save %). MacAuley won in the Tigers’ home opener allowing one goal (1.00 GAA) on 24 shots (.958 Save %).  Lanigan has started the most recent games allowing five goals (3.30 GAA) on 70 shots (.929 Save %). On the power play the Tigers have gone 5 for 21 (23.8%), while killing off 18 of 20 Hurricane opportunities (90.0%).

MILESTONES: Curtis Valk scored twice against Red Deer to bring his career total up to 50. In 157 career games, Valk has recorded 50 goals and 63 assists for 113 points. Dylan Bredo is approaching a career milestone as well. Bredo is two assists away from 50 in his career. He’s scored 15 goals and added 48 assists in 228 career games.

 

STREAKS: The Tigers have won both of their last two games 2-1 in shootouts. Dylan Busenius has been on a tear lately scoring in his last three games. So far this season he has scored five goals and added 17 assists to set a career high in points with 22.

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dylan Busenius was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending December 2nd. It was his first player of the week honour of the season. Busenius scored three times, collected four penalty minutes and had a -2 rating in the three games.

 

HONOURS: Tigers Captain Hunter Shinkaruk was selected for the CHL Top Prospect game and will be an Assistant Captain on Team Orr. Shinkaruk was also ranked second amongst WHL skaters in the preliminary rankings for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Defenseman Spenser Jensen joined his teammate in the rankings coming in at the 25th spot.

 

MOVEMBER: The Tigers were busy raising money for prostate cancer throughout Movember. The Tigers set their goals high and hoped to raise $15,000 over the month. Boston Leier, Curtis Valk, Elgin Pearce, Derek Ryckman, Marek Langhamer and Cam Lanigan all pledged to shave their hair if the goal was met. They are all now sporting the same hair style as the team flew past the goal raising $17,276 for the great cause.
