GAME 29: TIGERS VS PRINCE ALBERT RAIDERS

VS PRINCE ALBERT: This is the third of four meetings this season between the Tigers and Raiders. Medicine Hat has posted a 2-0-0-0 record versus the Raiders (1-0-0-0 at home and 1-0-0-0 in Prince Albert). Trevor Cox (5A) leads the Tigers with five points in the series. Marek Langhamer (1-0-0-0) and Daniel Wapple (1-0-0-0) have split the starts in net for the Tigers. Langhamer has allowed a single goal against (1.00 GAA) on 22 shots (.955 Save %) and Wapple has allowed three goals against (3.00 GAA) on 43 shots (.930 Save %). On the power play the Tigers went 1 for 9 (11.1%), while killing off 6 for 7 (85.7%) Raiders’ chances.

VS EAST DIVISION: The Tigers have dominated the East Division so far this season posting an 9-1-0-0 record.

 

LAST GAME: The Tigers lost 4-1 to the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome.  Steven Owre scored the lone goal for the Tigers. Daniel Wapple got the start in net for the Tigers. He allowed four goals against on 29 shots in the loss. The Tigers went 0 for 3 on the power play and 1 for 2 on the penalty kill.

 

MILESTONES: Curtis Valk recently reached an impressive career milestone. He picked up his 100th career assist in the 4-3 loss to the Kelowna Rockets. He is also approaching another impressive milestone – 200 points. In 226 games with the Tigers, Valk has scored 91 goals and assisted on 104 others for 195 points. Trevor Cox also recently hit an impressive assist milestone. He collected his 50th career assist in the 2-1 loss to Red Deer. In 156 games, Cox has 33 goals and 50 assists for 83 points. Dylan Bredo has been an ironman during his tenure with the Tigers. Bredo has played an impressive 297 regular season games with the Tigers. He recently surpassed Stacy Roest (290) for 7th in the Tigers records books for games played and is closing in on Chris St.Jaques (310), Clayton Norris (319), Mike Lay (324) and Henry Kuster (325). If he plays all the remaining 44 games he will finish with the third most games played.

 

STREAKS: The streaks of Curtis Valk, Cole Sanford and Trevor Cox all came to an end in the 4-1 loss to Calgary. Valk had been riding an impressive eight game points streak in which he had collected 12 points (5G,7A). Sanford (2G,4A) andCox (3G,5A) had also been playing great with point streaks of three and four games, respectively.  

 

ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kyle Becker was named the ATB Financial Player of the Week for the week ending Dec 1st. It is his first player of the week honour of the season. Over the past week, Becker collected one assist and had an even plus/minus rating over two games. Over the week the Tigers went 0-2-0-0.
