GAME 16: TIGERS VS TRI-CITY AMERICANS

VS TRI-CITY: This is the first and only meeting between the Tigers and Americans this season. The Tigers won the lone match up last season 6-5 in Kennewick, WA. Forwards Elgin Pearce (1G,1A), Jacob Doty (0G,2A) and Cole Sanford (0G,2A) and defenceman Ty Stanton (0G,2A) led the Tigers with two points each in the game. Goaltender Marek Langhamer (1-0-0-0) picked up the win allowing five goals against (5.00 GAA) on 32 shots (.844 Save %). On the power play the Tigers went 1 for 3 (33.3%), while killing off 3 of 4 Americans’ opportunities (75.0%).

MILESTONES: There are a few players on the verge of major scoring milestones. Miles Koules is approaching the 50 career point plateau. In 83 career games he’s scored 22 goals and assisted on 27 others for 49 points. Logan McVeigh is only one point away from 100 in his career. In 213 games between the Blazers, Raiders and Tigers, McVeigh has 36 goals and 63 assists for 99 points. Curtis Valk is also quickly approaching a very impressive milestone. Valk is only three assists away from 100 in his career with Tigers (213 games). Jacob Doty just surpassed a major milestone in the penalty minute category. In 213 career games he’s picked up an impressive 404 minutes in penalties.

 

 

STREAKS: Dylan Bredo, Steven Owre, Curtis Valk and Tommy Vannelli are all riding four game points streaks. Valk (3G,3A) and Bredo (6A) lead the way with six points over their streaks. Valk started a new streak after having his previous 10 game point streak snapped. There has only been one game so far this season that Valk hasn’t found his way onto the score sheet. Vannelli (5A) and Owre’s (3G,1A) streaks have also been very impressive with them collecting five and four points, respectively.

ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Curtis Valk was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending October 27th. It is his second player of the week honour of the season. He picked up two goals and two assists in the games against Portland and Saskatoon. Over the week the Tigers went 1-1-0-0. 

 

ALUMNI UPDATE: Tyler Pitlick recently made his NHL debut against the Montreal Canadiens and scored his first NHL goal in his third game against the Phoenix Coyotes. Unfortunately for Pitlick he injured his knee in the game and is now on the injured reserve list. Darren Helm is nearing a return to the Detroit Red Wings lineup. Helm has experienced a string of injuries and bad luck that has seen him play only one game in the past 18 months. He is expected to join the Wings as they make a trip to Western Canada. Joffrey Lupul has gotten off to a great start again this season with the Maple Leafs. He is among the league’s scoring leaders with 11 points (7G,4A) in 12 games. After being held off the score sheet in his first four game, Emerson Etem has recorded four points (2G,2A) in his last six games to help lead Anaheim to the third best record in the league.
