DYLAN BUSENIUS NAMED ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Medicine Hat, AB – The ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending December 2, 2012 is defenceman Dylan Busenius.
This is Busenius’ first ATB Tiger of the Week honour of the 2012-2013 season. Over the past week, Busenius collected three goals, four penalty minutes and had a plus/minus rating of -2 in three games. The Tigers went 2-1-0-0 over the week.
Busenius scored in each of this week’s games to extend this career high goal streak to three games.
His goal against Red Deer came in the second period to cut the Rebel lead to 3-2. Busenius took the pass from Hunter Shinkaruk and put it through traffic to beat the Rebel goaltender. The Tigers ended up losing the game to the Rebels 6-5.
On Saturday night the Tigers held their annual Teddy Bear Toss game and Busenius scored the first and only goal in regulation for the Tigers to send all the bears on to the ice. Busenius scored on a centre ice dump in that took a bounce and jumped over the Hurricane goaltender’s shoulder. The Tigers went on to win 2-1 in a shootout.
Busenius would be the only Tiger again to score in regulation on Sunday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings. While on the power player Hunter Shinkaruk fed Busenius the puck at the right face off dot for a one-timer that beat the Wheaties goaltender to put the Tigers up 1-0. The Wheat Kings would score late to force overtime but the Tigers would once again come away with a 2-1 shootout win.
At the end of the week, Busenius sat fourth in team scoring with 22 points (5G, 17A) and first among defencemen.
