12 FORMER TIGERS ON NHL OPENING DAY ROSTERS
Medicine Hat, AB –– The Tigers are proud to announce that 12 Tiger alumni have been named to National Hockey League opening night rosters ahead of the start of the season tonight.
Tyler Ennis is with Buffalo, Reid Petryk is injured but listed on the Colorado Avalanche roster, Darren Helm is in Detroit after signing a fresh contract in the off season, Kris Russell and Tyler Pitlick will play for Edmonton, Vern Fiddler is with the New Jersey Devils this season, while Jason Chimera signed a free agent contract with the New York Islanders and will start in Long Island, Jay Bouwmeester is back with the St. Louis Blues, David Schlemko has a new contract with the San Jose Sharks, Joffrey Lupul is injured but is listed on the Toronto Maple Leafs roster and Derek Dorsett and Emerson Etem will play with Vancouver.
Clarke MacArthur isn’t listed on the Senators roster but currently in injured with a career threatening concussion.
Also we can’t forget those former Tigers who are in Head Office positions. Willie Desjardins is back as Head Coach of the Vancouver Canucks. Trevor Linden continues to be the President of Hockey Operations for the Canucks. Ken Holland is the General Manager in Detroit. Jim Nill is the General Manager with the Dallas Stars. Stacy Roest is Director of Player Development for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 12 former Tigers played a combined 2111 games in a Medicine Hat uniform.
