Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tiger of the Week for the week ending February 13, 2011 is forward Kellan Tochkin.

This is Tochkin’s second player of the week honour in the 2010-2011 season. Over the past week, Tochkin tallied five points (4G,1A) while the Tigers went 2-0-1-1.

Starting Tuesday night against the Red Deer Rebels, Tochkin scored the first for the Tigers on the power play in the 3rd period. The goal started a Tiger rally that lead to a 3-1 win against the Rebels in a game with playoff implications.

The Tigers then travelled home to take on the Prince George Cougars. Tochkin opened the scoring for the Tigers on their way to a 5-2 victory.

The Tigers hit the road again for games against the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Regina Pats. In Brandon, Tochkin had a goal, an assist and was +1 on the night. His goal tied the game up 2-2 early in the second period. The Tigers eventually took the lead but were unable to hold on to it. Brandon would score with 12 seconds remaining to force overtime. The Wheat Kings eventually won the game in overtime on a penalty shot goal.

The Tigers travelled to Regina the next night looking to get back in the win column. Kellan scored a goal for the fourth straight game to tie the contest at 2-2 in the third. Kellan’s goal forced overtime and secured a point for the Tigers. Overtime didn’t solve anything and the teams went to the shootout. The Pats won the shootout in the 4th round.

At the conclusion of the week, Tochkin had posted 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points in 54 games.
