Leavitt Machinery Preview – Game 12 vs. Calgary
RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders (10-1-0-0) return to the Art Hauser Centre tonight to host the Calgary Hitmen (1-5-2-0). On Sunday, the Raiders travelled to Saskatoon and returned to Hockey Town North with a 6-2 win over the Blades. Brett Leason had a pair of goals – including the game winner – and an assist. Brayden Pachal scored his first goal of the year and added two assists. Parker Kelly and Sean Montgomery had multi-point nights with a goal and an assist each. Spencer Moe scored the Raiders’ other goal. Aliaksei Protas had two helpers to increase his lead in the WHL’s rookie scoring race.
VS. CALGARY: The Raiders and the Hitmen meet for the second time this season tonight. Last week, the Raiders won the first meeting of the season 4-0 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Brett Leason scored twice, while Ian Scott turned aside 23 shots for his first shutout of the year.

SWEEPING THE WEEK: After a 3-0 week, the Raiders took home both of the WHL Weekly Awards on Monday. Brett Leason was named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week following a five-goal, three-assist week. Ian Scott was awarded the WHL Eli Wilson Goaltending Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season. Scott made all three starts for the Raiders last week, posting a 1.00 goals-against average, a 0.963 save percentage, and a shutout.
PENALTY KILL STREAK SNAPPED: On Sunday, the Raiders had their consecutive penalties killed streak ended at 26 on the Blades’ first power play. The Raiders continue to lead the WHL in this category, killing off 93.8 per cent of their times shorthanded. They have also scored five shorthanded goals, which is two more than the amount of power-play goals given up this season.
LEANING ON LEASON: Brett Leason’s incredible start to the season has been a key part of the Raiders’ success lately. The 19-year-old from Calgary factored into eight of the last 10 goals scored by the Raiders. With his three-point afternoon on Sunday, Leason is tied for the WHL scoring lead with 22 points and has the league’s longest point streak. Sunday was also Leason’s eighth multi-point game of the year and fourth in a row.
