The Oil Kings are proud to have participated in United Way’s Coats for Kids & Families campaign this winter. Oil Kings fans brought their gently used coats and winter gear to Oil Kings home games in the month of December (15th, 17th, and 29th), and donated them to this great cause! In return, each donor received a voucher for 2 tickets to the Oil Kings “New Years Day Fireworks Frenzy” on January 1st!
This year, with the help of our amazing Oil Kings fans, we were able to raise 505 warm, winter items for United Way!
United Way of the Alberta Capital Region started the Coats for Kids & Families initiative in 1992 in response to an overwhelming need for winter wear by people in our community. Many local individuals and families simply don’t have the means to purchase the clothing needed to stay warm during Alberta’s harsh winters.
