September 6, 2023 (Edmonton, AB) – The Edmonton Oil Kings have acquired 2003-born forward Ty Nash from the Wenatchee Wild in exchange for 2005-born forward Dawson Seitz and a 2024 seventh-round draft pick, the Club announced today.
Nash, 20, is a Scottsdale, Arizona product and is entering his fifth season in the WHL.
“The Oil Kings are excited to add Ty Nash to our Club for the upcoming season,” said Oil Kings President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kirt Hill. “Ty is a player we are very familiar with having played against him the last four seasons in the Eastern Conference. His veteran presence, work ethic, and ability to produce offense are the big reasons it made sense for our group to acquire him.
“We look forward to getting him here to Edmonton and integrated into our group. We would like to welcome the entire Nash family to the Oil Kings Organization.”
The 5-foot-11, 178-pound forward has appeared in 207 career WHL games spit between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Winnipeg ICE, tallying 110 points (47G, 63A), 131 penalty minutes and a +13 plus/minus rating.
Last season, he suited up in 63 games for the ICE and registered career highs in goals (20), assists (24), points (44) and plus/minus (+39). In the 2023 WHL playoffs, he recorded three points (2G, 1A) in 14 post-season games during the ICE’s run to the WHL Championship Series.
Nash will be attending the Boston Bruins training camp next week.
He is the son of Tyson Nash, a three-time WHL and Memorial Cup Champion (Kamloops Blazers – 1992, 1994, 1995) and NHL alumnus (St. Louis Blues and Arizona Coyotes).
