GAME DAY: Hurricanes host Swift Current
Tonight it’s Wesbridge Construction Food Bank Night. Fans can buy their tickets for ONLY $15 at either the Lethbridge Food Bank or the Interfaith Food Bank with all proceeds benefitting both organizations. We’re also encouraging all fans coming to the game to bring a non-perishable food item and help us fill a truck and the food bins to help out the food banks. Volunteers from the organizations will also have a table on the concourse accepting any other donations. Hurricanes vs. Broncos
This is the first of 4 meetings this season between the Hurricanes and Broncos. The Hurricanes are playing their first game since the weekend when they suffered back to back OT losses and now sit 10th in the East Conference with a record of 5-9-2-1. NEWS & NOTES:
U17 Hockey Challenge Update: 1998 born goalie Stuart Skinner is playing for Canada Team Black at the U17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia-Lambton, ON. In their first game, Skinner made 13 saves in a 5-1 loss to Russia. Team Black posted their first win Tuesday, 4-3 over Finland. Team Black is 1-2-0-1 after quarterfinal action. Team Black plays Slovakia at 1:00pm (local time) this afternoon.
Canes Moves: On Oct. 28th, the Lethbridge Hurricanes announced that 18-year old left winger Steven Alldridge has decided to retire. Acquired ahead of last year’s trade deadline as part of the Corbin Boes trade, Alldridge played 15 games with the Canes before being sidelined with a shoulder injury. He spent the summer rehabbing his injury which continued into this season. The Hurricanes also reassigned right winger Michal Holub to the West Kelowna Warriors in the BCHL. Holub was acquired prior to the 2013 trade deadline which saw Russ Maxwell go to the Seattle Thunderbirds. Holub played 20 games with the Hurricanes registering 1 goal.
NHL’s Watchful Eye: 2nd year Centre, Giorgio Estephan has caught the eye of the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau. On the preliminary Draft Watch List for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the 6’0, 184 pound native of Edmonton was listed as a WHL “C” skater indicating a 4th to 6th round candidate. Estephan was drafted in the 1st round (4th overall) by Lethbridge in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft and last year finished with 24 points (12G, 12A) in 64 games….NHL Camps: Nick Walters signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement with the Columbus Blue Jackets and attended their Prospects Camp in September where he competed at the NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City, Michigan.
