GAME DAY: Hurricanes Open Second Half Against Tigers
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open the second half of the regular season tonight at 6:00pm as they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
The Hurricanes (11-22-0-1) enter after ending a four-game losing streak on December 16th with a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime win over the Edmonton Oil Kings at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Easton Daneault and Kade Duell scored in regulation before Matteo Fabrizi potted the overtime winner. Leif Oaten made 27-saves in the win. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 6-9-0-1 on home ice this season while having gone 6-4-0-1 in their last 11 at home.
The Tigers (22-6-3-2) enter on a 14-game unbeaten streak having gone 12-0-1-1 in that span. Medicine Hat was last in action when they extended a win streak to 10-straight games with a 7-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on December 17th. Seven different goal scorers lit the lamp in the win while Carter Casey made 22-saves in the victory. The Tigers enter tonight with a 10-5-2-1 record on the road this year.
Tonight will be the second of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Tigers; Lethbridge has posted an 0-1-0-0 record against Medicine Hat so far this year. Veteran Adds: On Friday, December 12th, the Hurricanes signed veterans WHLers Andrew Petruk and Fraser Leonard from the British Columbia Hockey League. The overage forward Petruk had appeared in 19 games split between the Langley Rivermen and Vernon Vipers while the 19-year-old Leonard had skated in 24 games with the Prince George Spruce Kings this season. The duo both made their ‘Cane debuts on December 12th against the Saskatoon Blades at SaskTel Centre.
Worm Dealt: On Sunday, December 7th, the Hurricanes announced the trade of captain Logan Wormald to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2026 (WEN), a third-round draft pick in 2026 (SPO), a fourth-round draft pick in 2026 (LET) and a fourth-round draft pick in 2028 (SPO). Wormald finished his career having recorded 243 points (99g-144a) in 266 career games finishing 17th all-time in points, 16th all-time in goals, 13th all-time in assists and 12th all-time in games played in ‘Canes history.
Break Out Season: Luke Cozens enters tonight leading the Hurricanes in goals (16), assists (24) and points (40) having smashed his previous career-high when he recorded 10 points (3g-7a) in 64 games. The former seventh-round draft pick is on pace to collect 32 goals and 80 points this season. He has skated in a total of 145 regular season games with the Hurricanes.

Big Trade: On November 9th, the Hurricanes acquired 2006-born forward Kayden Longley, prospect Grayson Bauer along with five draft picks including a conditional first-round pick in 2026 from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for overage forward Shane Smith and the WHL rights to 2007-born import forward Vojtech Cihar. He made his ‘Canes debut on November 12th in Penticton; since joining the Hurricanes, Longley has collected eight points (2g-6a) in 11 games.
