GAME DAY: Hurricanes Visit Oil Kings in First of Two Straight Against Edmonton
Edmonton, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes play their final road game in 2025 as they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings this afternoon at 4:00pm at Rogers Place.
The Hurricanes (11-23-0-1) enter having dropped a 5-1 decision on Saturday to the Medicine Hat Tigers at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Andrew Petruk scored the lone goal while Koen Cleaver made 30-saves in the loss for the Hurricanes. Lethbridge fell to 1-5-0-0 in their last six games with the loss. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 5-13-0-0 road record this year having dropped their last five away from home.
The Oil Kings (22-7-3-1) ended a two-game losing streak on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime win over the Red Deer Rebels at the Marchant Crane Centrium. Lukas Sawchyn and Parker Alcos scored in regulation before Miroslav Holinka potted the overtime winner; Ethan Simcoe made 26-saves in the victory. Edmonton enters tonight with a 9-2-2-1 record on home ice this season, but have lost their last two at Rogers Place.
Tonight will be the first of two-straight meetings between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings while it will be the fourth of eight head-to-head meetings on the season; Lethbridge has posted a 1-2-0-0 record against Edmonton so far this year. The duo both made their ‘Cane debuts on December 12th against the Saskatoon Blades at SaskTel Centre.
Worm Dealt: On Sunday, December 7th, the Hurricanes announced the trade of captain Logan Wormald to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2026 (WEN), a third-round draft pick in 2026 (SPO), a fourth-round draft pick in 2026 (LET) and a fourth-round draft pick in 2028 (SPO). Wormald finished his career having recorded 243 points (99g-144a) in 266 career games finishing 17th all-time in points, 16th all-time in goals, 13th all-time in assists and 12th all-time in games played in ‘Canes history.
