Fan Bus, December 30^th: The Hurricanes will be holding the first Fan Bus of the season on Saturday, December 30^th when the ‘Canes travel to face the Calgary Hitmen at Scotiabank Saddledome. Tickets are $69.00 + GST and include your game ticket! Transportation brought to you by Carefree Express.

Celebrity Dinner Announced: The Hurricanes will host the 12^th Annual Celebrity Sports Dinner on Saturday, January 27^th at the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre. This year, former Hurricanes goaltender Jamie McLennan along with TSN SportsCentre hosts Natasha Staniszewski and Kate Beirness will be in attendance. Tickets are available by calling 403-328-1986.

Toy Mountain/Ugly Sweater Night: Friday, December 8^th will be KiSS 107.7 Toy Mountain Night for Centre Village Mall at the ENMAX Centre. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation for children of all ages. It is also Ugly Sweater Night at the ENMAX Centre.

DATE CHANGE: The Hurricanes would like to advise that there has been an error in printing in some of the team promotional schedules, as well as the season ticket booklets. The Hurricanes will host the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday, December 6^th at 7:00pm – NOT on Tuesday, December 5^th.

THE WEEK THAT WAS

Tuesday, November 28^th – 4-3 Shootout Win vs. Portland Winterhawks: The Hurricanes won their fourth straight game in comeback fashion defeating the Winterhawks 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday. The win snapped Portland’s ten game winning streak.

Friday, December 1^st – 5-1 Loss vs. Brandon Wheat Kings: The ‘Canes had their four game winning streak snapped with a 5-1 loss Friday. Calen Addison scored the lone goal in the loss.

Saturday, December 2^nd – 4-1 Win vs. Victoria Royals: The Hurrricanes bounced back on Saturday with a 4-1 win over Victoria on the 22^nd Annual Canadian Tire Teddy and Toque Toss. Jake Elmer scored this year’s Teddy Bear Toss goal while adding a second. Ty Prefontaine scored twice as well, including his first ever WHL goal.

Sunday, December 3^rd – 7-2 Win at Edmonton Oil Kings: The ‘Canes won their sixth of seven on Sunday completing the three-in-three weekend in Edmonton with a 7-2 win. Giorgio Estephan had a career-high six points (1g-5a) while Calen Addison had a career-high five assists in the victory.

THIS WEEK’S GAME SCHEDULE

Wednesday, December 6^th, 7:00pm vs. Red Deer Rebels: The Hurricanes begin a two game week on Wednesday when they host the Red Deer Rebels in the first of six head-to-head meetings this year. The ‘Canes took five of six last year in the regular season against Red Deer and then beat the Rebels in a seven game series in the first round of the playoffs.

Friday, December 8^th, 7:00pm vs. Edmonton Oil Kings: The ‘Canes will play their final home game before the Christmas break on Friday when the Edmonton Oil Kings come to town. The ‘Canes are 2-1-0-0 against the Oil Kings this season. The game is also Ugly Christmas Sweater Night at the ENMAX Centre as well as KiSS 107.7 Toy Mountain Night.

NEWS & NOTES

Player of the Week: The WHL named Calen Addison the WHL On the Run Player of the Week on Monday. Addison racked up eight points (1g-7a) in four games this past week capped off by a career-high five assist game on Sunday in a 7-2 win in Edmonton over the Oil Kings. Addison also leads the entire WHL with 19 power play assists on the season.

6 of 7: The Hurricanes have won six of their last seven games after an eight game losing streak. The ‘Canes have earned wins over the Vancouver Giants, Kootenay Ice, Portland Winterhawks, Edmonton Oil Kings and two against the Victoria Royals in that span.

Pretty Good PP: The ‘Canes power play has found its stride of late. After a five power play goal game on Sunday against the Oil Kings, the Hurricanes now own the fourth best PP in the league converting at 29.9 percent. Only the Swift Current Broncos, Portland Winterhawks and Brandon Wheat Kings are better.
